There is nothing better than the smell of fresh bread baking in the kitchen. This easy homemade white sandwich bread is perfect for sandwiches, grilled cheese, or just sliced with butter and a hot bowl of soup. This recipe makes one loaf, but I usually double it because one is never enough. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup soften butter (or oil)
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons honey (or sugar)
- 2 ¾ teaspoons active yeast
- 1 ½ teaspoon salt
Directions:
In a stand mixing bowl combine water, sweetener, and active yeast. Blend with a whisk. Then, cover with a dish towel and let proof for 10 minutes. Add to the yeast mixture, butter (or oil), salt, and flour adding it one cup at a time using the dough hook. Mix until the dough clings to the dough hook and not the sides of the bowl. Continue to mix for another 3-4 minutes. Remove dough from the dough hook and cover in the mixing bowl with a towel. Let rise for about 1 ½ hours or until doubled in size. Punch down and form into an oval-loaf shape. Place in a greased loaf pan seam side down. Let rise again for about an hour or until doubled in size. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
