Wassail

It wouldn’t seem like fall without Wassail in my home and this version of hot cider is definitely a family favorite. With cinnamon sticks, orange slices, and fresh pressed apple cider it’s fall in a mug.

  • 2 quarts apple cider
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 orange, sliced or wedges
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4-5 cinnamon sticks

Optional ingredients (amount to taste):

  • Whole allspice
  • Whole cloves
  • Maple syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients and slowly bring to a boil.  Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.  Serve hot with additional cinnamon sticks or an orange wedge studded with cloves.
